Dear Calitko Developers,

One year has passed since the official open source start of Calitko Project on 24. May 2006. Yesterday, to note the anniversary I released Calitko v0.6.1 – a release containing two major innovations, with can hugely increase our productivity and work quality:

• Packet generation from XML description, combined with the still under construction Protocols/Generics components, will allow us to implement new protocols in a matter of days! That would be unthinkable without a Calitko-like software platform.
• CalitkoMocks – our mocking framework based on the ideas of Mock Objects and extending them. CalitkoMocks will improve our productivity and quality of design, test and implementation of a component-based Caltiko.

Last year we had not work much on making it practical for an end user, instead we concentrated on deepening our know-how and developing a solid foundation for Calitko. I expect that we will keep this praxis as it makes perfect sense when developing an extensible software P2P platform rather then an end user application.

Already over 100 developers have registered for Calitko Project! Quite a big number, however, as common in open source projects, only very few actually get to do anything. On the one hand people do not have much spare time; on the other hand people find difficulties getting started. We are constantly working on improving our web sites and documentation with the hope we would help new members to become productive faster.

Calitko is a truly great project and I’m sure it will only get better!
