Last year ;-) I also read a little bit about log4j:

and its different ports (log4cpp, log4cplus, log4c). All docs I found or the latest release of the libraries themselves are each a few years old but I guess they are just all quite stable. I didn’t invest too much time but it seems to me that log4cplus is more up to date with log4j. For one thing at least, Category has been renamed to Logger in newer versions of log4j and log4cplus has Logger but log4cpp only has Category. That may not make a tremendous difference in ease of use but anyway it may be a good idea to look at log4cplus as well and compare both.

Dear Peter I downloaded and looked at log4cpp.. I am right now reading http://developers.sun.com/solaris/articles/logging.html and would see how can we put this excellent stuff in calitko.... -- cheerio atul
