Re: new protocol support. Proposal

Hi Sabastien,

Thanks for the link! I sneaked a quick look into it and will read this coursework in more detail. I’d just like to remark that the observations and conclusions presented in this paper are based on the state of the art as it was in 2001. Pretty much has changed in Gnutella and probably in JXTA in the last 5 years.

As we talked already, I’m quite interested in integrating the C binding of JXTA in Calitko but that would be after we have a stable Gnutella and BitTorrent implementation. I plan to get more familiar with the JTXA specifications (http://mms.ecs.soton.ac.uk/mms2002/papers/17.pdf).

Keep us posted when you find some interesting papers that are relevant for Calitko!

Regards,

Peter

I previously discussed with Peter about this issue, and would like to share it with other Calitko members. I believe it would be useful to add a support for the JXTA P2P network: www.jxta.org

JXTA is a set of P2P protocols which aim to connect heterogenous devices(from mobile phones to PC) in a P2P way . The main implementation of these protocols are in Java language, but there is also a C/C++ version available.

Here is an interesting article which compare Gnutella and JXTA:

Would you like to post a relpy?

Sorry, the link to the specs is actually http://spec.jxta.org/nonav/v1.0/docbook/JXTAProtocols.html. Peter Dimov wrote:Hi Sabastien, Thanks for the link! I sneaked a quick look into it and will read this coursework in more (more...)
